We collect only what the service needs to operate:
Everything above comes from you: your sign-in, the questions and documents you submit, and your use of the service. We do not buy information about you and we do not collect information about you from other companies.
We do not train AI models on your content. Your research questions, uploaded documents, briefs, and the memoranda generated for you are not used to train our models or anyone else's, and "improving the service" never means training on your content. The AI providers in §4 are restricted the same way.
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your personal information, and we have not sold personal information in the past. We do not share your personal information with anyone for their own marketing.
Three categories of service providers process data on our behalf, under contracts that restrict their use of it to providing their service to us:
Beyond these providers, we disclose personal information only: (a) if a law, subpoena, warrant, or court order requires it (see §8); (b) to protect the service against fraud or attack; (c) to our professional advisors — lawyers, accountants, auditors — bound by confidentiality duties; or (d) to a successor in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to the transferred information and we will notify you as §10 provides before your information becomes subject to a materially different policy. We do not participate in any cross-border data-transfer certification program.
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. Our pages contain no third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and no other parties collect personally identifiable information about you across websites through our service. Because we do not track you, our service does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals — there is no tracking to turn off.
You can see your account email on the Account page and your research history on the Deep Research page. To request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account and its data, email us at the address in §10. We answer within 45 days. When you request deletion, we delete your account identity and research content; we keep billing and financial records we are legally required to keep, and security logs for a limited period, and we say so in our response to you.
Connections to the service are encrypted in transit. Access to production data is restricted to the operator. Briefs submitted for verification are not retained at all (see §1). Research content is retained while your account is active so your history keeps working; server logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging; billing records are retained as financial-record law requires. When we delete data, we delete it from live systems promptly and from backups on the backup-expiry cycle.
If a breach of security exposes your unencrypted personal information, we will notify you as California Civil Code section 1798.82 requires.
If a government entity demands your data, we require the legal process California law requires for online services, and unless a law or court order forbids it, we will tell you about the demand before we comply, so you can object.
VeriCite is a professional research tool. It is not directed to minors, and you may not use it if you are under 18.

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we will email your account address before the change takes effect, with the choice to close your account and receive a refund of unspent credits rather than accept the change. We will not use information collected under this policy in a materially different way without your consent.
